The Good Neighbor Fund, which is separate from Community Resources for Independence, Inc., is directed and funded by its employees, who make small donations through each payroll deduction.
In the spirit of being a good neighbor the fund helps out in the local communities of all of our CRI offices, including Allentown, Altoona, Bradford, Clarion, Clearfield, Erie, Hermitage, Lewisburg, Lewistown, McConnellsburg, Oil City, Warren, Wellsboro, and Williamsport. The fund acts to provide a donation per approved requests involving personal tragedies or other hardships such as funerals or catastrophic medical expenses. Each of our satellite offices has representatives who submit requests for donations in their respective areas.
The deduction currently is a little over .35 percent of the participating employees' gross pay. For every $10 you earn, three and one half cents is donated. If you earn $100, a donation of $0.35 is made. In the Erie, office the Good Neighbor Fund pledges a percentage of the fund donations to the United Way each year. This eliminates solicitation of CRI employees by the United Way.
